Albuquerque' Balloon Fiesta

Join this tour to the magnificent American southwest to the International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On our way, we'll visit Mud Island Museum,complete with steamships, Civil War and American Indian artifacts; the Fort Worth Stockyards, and the Canton First Monday Trade Days, one of the country's largest flea market and cattle trading meets. We'll stop in Dallas to see the bronze Mustang Sculpture created as a memorial to the heritage of Texas. We have free time in the historic district of Grapevine, filled with antique shops, art galleries, wineries and restaurants.

At Carlsbad Caverns, we'll tour this spectacular cavern, and enjoy the inimitable Bat Flight, where the bats all depart the cave in a stream - incredible! We'll stop at White Sands National Park, and take the time to play in the sand. The small Mexican town of La Mesilla will delight you with its artisan treasures and historic buildings (Billy the Kid was held in the jail here).

In Albuquerque, we'll take the Tramway to the top of Sandia Peak, and savor a fabulous dinner in High Finance Restaurant (for those who can't take the tram, dinner will be served in the SanDiago's Restaurant at the foot of the tram). The unique experience of watching the expanding balloons is totally incredible, and we'll attend the Balloon Fiesta on two mornings - one with Shaped Balloons Ascension, and one with the Mass Ascension - and one evening to view the Moon Glow and fireworks. We'll spend free time in the historic districts of both Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

We'll enjoy the scenery as we drive through the Grand Canyon of Texas - Palo Duro Canyon. Join us as we enjoy two weeks of pure bliss aboard Princess Cruise Line's beautiful Golden Princess on her 14-day sailing, departing round trip from San Pedro (Los Angeles), California. Your voyage will begin and end with several peaceful days on the Pacific, providing time to explore and enjoy all that this magnificent ship has to offer. Once we arrive in the Hawaiian Islands, you will be able to enjoy as much of this Paradise as you choose.

HILO, on the Island of Hawaii, will be the first port of call. From this port, you may decide to see volcanoes, visit waterfalls, explore the diversity of the Big Island or simply bask in the beauty of Hilo Beach. The next stop on the cruise will be HONOLULU, Oahu, home to Pearl Harbor and the famous Waikiki Beach. Oahu also boasts the only royal palace built on American soil and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Upon arrival into port #3, NAWILIWILI, you will understand why Kauai is known as the "Garden Island." From the lush tropical growth of Fern Grotto to Waimea Canyon (the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific"), to the cascading waterfalls, Kauai will not disappoint. Our last post of call, making this a total of four islands, will be LAHAINA, Maui. Option 1 - Air flight from any local airport (Erie, Jamestown, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo) into Los Angeles area. The specific departure point will influence final price for flight.

Option 2 - Hitchin' Post Tours has reserved accommodations on AmTrak, departing from Erie at 1:30 am on February 13, connecting in Chicago, and arriving in Los Angeles at 9:00 am on February 15. This option includes transfer from train to hotel, cost of hotel for one night, breakfast at hotel, and transfer from hotel to port on the 16th: Price for Coach seat on train: Reclining seat rather than bed, no meals included (food available on train), restroom but no shower facilities, $469 per person. Price for Roomette with bed - includes linens, all meals, shower amenities, access to shower (shower nearby), personal services (coffee, daily paper, water upon request), access to dome car, $1249.

In order to obtain group rates for the cruise and the train, deposits are due for the train portion by the end of April (40% of your accommodation choice), and are refundable up to 45 days prior; deposits for the ship are due by June 1 (20% of your accommodation choice).
